Sensible Drinking
Most people drink alcohol and enjoy it. But regularly drinking more than the recommended daily amount can put your health at risk. Alcohol use is linked to more than 60 different medical conditions including heart disease, stroke, liver disease and many types of cancer.
How much is too much?
NHS advice on drinking recommends that:
- Men should not regularly drink more than 3 to 4 units a day
- Women should not regularly drink more than 2 to 3 units a day
- Pregnant women and women trying for a baby should avoid drinking any alcohol
If you would like more information about what these recommendations mean for you ring Healthy Sefton on 0300 100 1000 for a free information booklet and unit calculator.
Or visit the NHS Choices website where you will find information and tools to help you work out the number of units you drink and whether you may be harming your health.
