Sefton has over 120 dentists able to provide NHS treatment.
Lists of local NHS dentists are available in the phone book or from NHS Direct (0845 46 47). If you have difficulties finding an NHS dentist in Sefton, please contact the NHS Sefton PALS team (0800 218 2333) who can tell you which dentists in your area are currently able to offer new patient NHS dental check ups.
There are three standard charges for all NHS dental treatments. This means you know how much you may need to pay and it helps ensure that you are being charged for NHS care (rather than private care). You receive free NHS dental treatment if you meet certain exemption criteria.

Urgent treatment
If you have an urgent dental problem and cannot wait until normal working hours for treatment, call your regular dentist and follow the instructions on the answering machine to access the emergency dental service.
If you do not have a regular dentist, call NHS Sefton PALS (0800 218 2333) in working hours. If you do not have a regular dentist and need advice outside normal working hours, call the Sefton Emergency Dental Service (01704 548 863).
